Weirdisms in the Bellerophon Weird Tales

Steven Ward
Writer, Investigator, Businessman
Born ca. 1954, Detroit, Michigan, area

"Weirdisms" was in Weird Tales from July 1947 to July 1951 and came to an end when Lee Brown Coye moved on to other artistic endeavors (or when the magazine lost interest in the feature). In 1984, however, a revived Weird Tales brought back "Weirdisms." The Bellerophon Network was the publisher of the new Weird Tales, but that incarnation lasted just two issues, Fall 1984 and Winter 1985. The new "Weirdisms" appeared in the magazine just once, in that first Fall issue. The writer was businessman, investigator, and U.S. Navy veteran Steven Ward. The subject was dreams and premonitions. Mr. Ward has a lifelong interest in strange, unexplained, and paranormal phenomena, including Mothman. Like me, he has been to the Mothman Festival, and I think it pretty likely that we have met. You can read more about his career in the interview listed below.

  2. Dear Brian,

Since writing this article, I have met Mr. Ward. He was at the Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, this year. This was the fiftieth anniversary of the first sighting of the Mothman. People came from all over the United States to celebrate the occasion. I mentioned you to Mr. Ward as my introduction to him.
